Susan Farrell is a Senior User Experience Specialist with Nielsen Norman Group.
Previously, as a usability
engineer for Solaris products at Sun Microsystems,
she conducted usability evaluations and helped
design software, information delivery systems and
Web application interfaces. At Silicon Graphics
(SGI) Service Tools Research and Development, she
designed customer self-help applications. A Web
developer since 1993, Farrell understands the
technical and cross-platform details of the medium

paying attention to the details of customer
interaction while taking advantage of company
information resources to streamline overall
service and information delivery.
Since joining Nielsen Norman Group in 1999, Farrell has consulted with dozens of companies — from multinationals to early startups — regarding website usability, interaction design and information architecture. She co-authored E -Commerce User Experience, conducted accessibility research for Beyond ALT Text, and contributed to many other NN/g research reports. Since 1994, Farrell has been running a non-profit art site as a project beyond her company work; this website currently serves more than 900,000 user sessions per month. Farrell is a member of Usability Professionals Association (UPA) and ACM Computer Human Interaction (CHI). She holds an M.S. in information design & technology from Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.A. from Georgia State University. |
