Marieke McCloskey, a User Experience Specialist with Nielsen Norman Group, draws on her extensive experience researching human behavior to help organizations improve the usability of their applications, websites, and intranets.
McCloskey focuses on providing clients insightful recommendations at every stage of the design process, through field studies, user research, competitive analysis, prototype design and evaluation, and one-on-one user testing. Her strategy workshops help organizations understand their users and leverage this audience analysis to build a competitive user experience. She has consulted with clients in a wide range of industries, including e-commerce, health care, finance, education, and non-profit. Her full day seminars and workshops about User Experience, Usability Methods, Writing for the Web, Intranet Design, and the Psychology of Users are taught globally at our Usability Week conferences, as well as customized for clients' individual needs. Since joining NN/g, McCloskey has continued to research human behavior by conducting desktop, mobile, and tablet usability research studies, including eyetracking user research, in the United States, Europe, and Asia. McCloskey has co-authored several NN/g reports, including: She has also served as a judge of the New Zealand WriteMark Plain English Awards.Before joining NN/g, McCloskey was an Information Architect in the Digital Media Group at the National Football League, where she worked on several large-scale website redesign projects. She has also worked as a psychometrician at Massachusetts General Hospital. McCloskey holds an M.A. in Cognitive Science from Johns Hopkins University, where she explored the use of neuroimaging to study human behavior and cognition, and a B.S. from University College Utrecht, in The Netherlands. McCloskey is based in Los Angeles, California. |
